Safety Update from Build Group

With the ongoing effort to suppress and contain the Palisades Fire, our first priority is maintaining adequate access for the Fire Department while ensuring that construction activities do not endanger firefighters, members of the community, or our crews.  Safety is always our company’s paramount concern.  As the general contractor and in conjunction with ownership,  Build Group sought guidance from the Palisades Fire Command Center regarding our planned concrete pour scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th.

Earlier this afternoon, we met with senior LAFD officials directly involved with the firefighting effort in the Palisades.  They reviewed our plans for the coming days—and particularly the concrete pour.  We subsequently asked if any of our work would impede their operations in any way and whether they would prefer that we reschedule. LAFD assured us that our construction activities would not interfere with the firefighting effort, and that we could safely proceed as planned. We exchanged contact details with the Assistant Chief, should conditions change or if any issues arise in the coming days.

We will maintain regular communication with fire crews and are prepared for several contingency plans (including halting operations) should it be necessary.  Build Group will continually assess and address the situation and our work’s impact on the community.
